About Us:45 Years and CountingWhether you find the food industry, or the food industry finds you, it is almost always a relationship that endures.An established set of family companies, DoveTale Collections and Jacobsons operate a multi-faceted business working with imported and locally produced specialty food brands.Travelling the world in the continual pursuit of remarkable flavours, the family has made it their commitment to find exceptional producers and to share their stories with the Canadian market, from coast to coast.The OpportunityThe DoveTale Collections and Jacobsons group is seeking an experienced, team-motivated individual to fulfill the position of Accounting Manager.Reporting to the Managing Director, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all accounting activities in the combined organization.

An integrated role, this position works to support and strengthen team efforts through sound financial planning, maintenance and communication with management and stakeholders.As our ideal candidate you have experience working in a small to medium sized business and are comfortable playing a role across the business not just in finance.

You have a professional manner, strong attention to detail and can multi-task effectively.

You are adaptable, willing to take on any task and you are passionate about the opportunity to play a lead role in our small, dynamic, and growing company.Responsibilities:Develop, implement, and enforce all the financial policies, systems, and procedures.Lead and co-ordinate the financial planning, budgetary planning, reporting and analysis.Active participant in the business development & growth strategy.Oversee the monitoring and analyzing of all accounting data and estimates to ensure the overall financial health of the business, including import logistics compliance.Responsible for all general bookkeeping and accounts management.Manage insurance claims, quotes, and contracts.Coordinate financial modelling, internal audits, and all cash management duties.Stay up to date on all current HR, industry & government regulatory compliance and reporting requirements.

Any other duties as required.Qualifications:A college diploma or university degree in Accounting or Finance is required; a professional accounting designation (CPA) will be considered an asset.A minimum of 3+ years industry experience and supervising staff is required.Knowledge of Canadian acts and regulations surrounding food imports is an asset.Data mining techniques and advanced use of Microsoft Excel including Pivot tables; MS Office Suite proficient.Experience with QuickBooks and SAP Business One or other similar accounting systems.Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (“ASPE”) or International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”).A high level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.Why Work With UsAn environment of excellence.
