This is a Full-time position in Ottawa, ON posted April 5, 2021.

This position will be a key member of the Finance management team and be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, financial forecasting and management of internal controls necessary to meet our financial and operational objectives.

Using International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), taxation and financial reporting knowledge, this position will provide insightful and strategic contributions and lead Farm Boy in the adoption of new and emerging technology tools and techniques related to department periodic and year end functions.

Performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers and suppliers.

All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.Major Responsibilities:Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our consolidated accounting and other records as well as the timely preparation of relevant financial reports both internally and submission to parent company.Accurately review periodic and annual financial statements, month end closings and other reports per established timelines for submission to parent company.Participate in preparation of annual budgets and regular dynamic forecasting.Align strategy, governance and standards with Farm Boy’s strategic priorities on:Cost control and efficienciesHarmonizing/standardizing processes and aligning systemsEnsuring technologies, accounting, and controls lead to high quality service delivery for the Retail businessAct as the key liaison with our parent company’s external and internal auditors and coordination of their work across the organization.May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Typically requires completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, as well as a CPA or CA Certification, plus 7+ years of Finance Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) experience and 3 years’ experience in both traditional retail and/or manufacturing industries or an equivalent combination of education and experienceDemonstrated leadership and change management experienceSolid understanding of accounting principles, concepts, internal control design and tax compliance; strong analytical and report writing skillsKnowledge and experience with implementing and enhancing financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systemsAbility to work in a high-volume environment with tight deadlines.Excellent organizational skills and ability to deal with multiple tasks and changing prioritiesStrong interpersonal and communication skillsKeen attention to detailProficiency in both official languages would be an asset.Accommodation is available upon request for applicants and employees with disabilities.
