The AIM GROUP: Mechanical Designer, Telecom

Title: Mechanical DesignerClient sector: TelecommunicationsLocation: Kanata/remoteWork Hours: Monday to Friday, full timeStart Date: asapEnd Date: 6 month contract with possible extensionOur client is a leading provider of communications solutions for a range of organizations – from small to multi-site, large enterprises.They offer customers a broad choice of solutions, from basic business communications to sophisticated unified communication solutions.

As the Mechanical Designer, you will be accountable for ensuring that all our clients products have the highest quality, cost-effective mechanical designs, and enclosures.You will be an integral part of a fast paced R& D team in a growing company and you will be working closely with the Hardware Designers, Product line managers, Industrial design teams and contract manufacturers/suppliers in a wide variety of areas.Tasks and ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement and support cost effective, high quality plastic and metalwork solutions for our clients’ products to be deployed at contract manufacturing sites and other third-party facilities.Completion of all necessary mechanical engineering documents, CAD drawings, Mechanical engineering analysis including tolerance and stress.Working with both the material suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure the highest yield products can be produced and assembled with the least minimal yield and cost implications.Directing and designing all mechanical solutions to meet the necessary Regulatory requirements and functional requirements determined by the Product line managers.Ensure all documented processes and procedures as per ISO are expected to be followed in the development of all Mechanical designs and piece parts.New Product introduction will require the development, documentation, and implementation of Mechanical engineering test plans on assemblies and piece parts.Participate in ongoing cost reduction activities and value-added engineering analysis for providing lowest cost products to our customers.Skills and Experience Requirements3 to 5 years relevant work experience in mechanical engineering design and electronic packaging using Pro/E Creo, Wildfire, 3D Computer Aided DesignDegree or diploma in a related fieldExtensive plastic and sheet metal part design experienceWorking knowledge of IP VoIP technologiesExcellent communication and presentation skillsIn depth knowledge of R& D process and proceduresExperience in developing productive relationships with external 3rd partiesExperience with displays, touch panels, RF would be an asset
