Intermediate Bridge Engineer

Opportunity:

Parsons Ottawa is hiring for an Intermediate Bridge Engineer to support our expanding business. Parsons extensive experience in this field, combined with your engineering knowledge, will propel your career forward with opportunity for advancement with top performance.  This role will encompass a combination of inspections, reporting, and design.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently and as part of a team develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meets and exceeds customer quality requirements.  This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status
  • Worked in the capacity of bridge project engineer on medium to large projects, will assume responsibility for the work of a wide-ranging group of professionals within Parsons and with our consulting and construction partners
  • Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses
  • Performs inspection of existing bridges and associated structures including coordination of inspection teams and specialized sub-consultants, leading field work, providing repair recommendations, and completing life cycle cost analysis
  • Provides support for other engineering activities as required
  • Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies
  • Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.  May assist with other administrative and technical duties. Recommends and prepares technical papers.
  • Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and junior staff working on the same project
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and 8+ years or more of related work experience with bridge projects
  • Previous experience working with/for key bridge owners in Ontario is an asset
