For more information, visit www.Telesat.Com.PURPOSE OF JOBAs part of the Telesat LEO Cloud and Platform team, the Cloud Architect provides expertise supporting the architecture, design, and implementation of the Hybrid Cloud and Platforms (Kubernetes, Data) for the LEO program.

The purpose of the job is to:◦Bring engineering expertise related to the design and deployment of the hybrid cloud infrastructure that provide best in class technologies for our cloud-native applications while maintaining agility and cost controls.◦Deliver engineering proficiency related to the design and deployment of the Kubernetes and/or Data Platform infrastructure.◦Advance and build best practice materials for infrastructure-as-code and configuration management.◦Empower development teams to leverage cloud-native architectures with new and existing applications.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:◦Define architecture and design of the LEO Hybrid Cloud using best practices, infrastructure as code and DevOps practices.◦Define architecture and design of the Kubernetes (AKS, GKE, EKS, Rancher) platform using best practices, infrastructure as code and DevOps practices.◦Define architecture and design of the Data platform infrastructure using best practices, infrastructure as code and DevOps practices.◦Work with selected vendors through the development and delivery phases.◦Offer expertise on cloud and cloud-native technologies to the broader Telesat LEO team.◦Produce technical presentations to executive management to support recommendations on cloud design, development, and deployments.◦Own, document, and maintain the cloud services platform development and deployment plans in close coordination with the Telesat LEO team.◦Managing the LEO Hybrid Cloud and Platforms in accordance with our enterprise security guidelines.◦Educating teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.◦Employing exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they escalate into problems.Education & Experience Required◦Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent practical experience.◦At least 7 years of relevant industry experience.◦Production level experience with Microsoft Azure, GCP or AWS.◦Production level experience in one of the following areas:Building and operationalizing Kubernetes Platforms (Rancher, EKS, AKS, GKE)Building and operationalizing Data Platforms.◦Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform◦Experience with Configuration Manager tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt and Packer.◦Familiarity with GitOps and CI/CD best practice concepts considered an asset◦Creative problem-solving skills and strong analytical and decision-making skills◦Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment◦Strong written and oral English communication skillsDECISION MAKING & SUPERVISION:Decision Making◦In this role, the incumbent will have influence on the architecture of the cloud and platform for the Telesat LEO program.

They will need to make recommendations and decisions based on their experience.Supervision Exercised◦This role has no direct reports, but will work and interact with multi-disciplinary engineering, contracts, legal, and commercial teams.WORKING CONDITIONS:◦Working conditions are generally comfortable typical of an office environment.◦Occasional travel is anticipated.◦Occasional overtime may be required.The successful candidate must be able to legally work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
