Medical Radiation Technologist III – Quality Control

Your Opportunity: Medical Radiation Technologist III
– Quality Control position is responsible for participating in, performing and maintaining a quality control program within the Department of Diagnostic Imaging (DI) under the guidance of the medical physicist and Authorized Radiation Protection Agency (ARPA) Quality Management Plan (QMP).

In addition to the Quality Control (QC) technologist’s home site, this position also provides quality control services to assigned AHS sites as required.

Working closely with a varied group of individuals the QC technologist will ensure that the DI equipment functions in a safe and effective manner.

The QC technologist works in conjunction with technology management in regard to DI equipment service and installation by providing expertise in the areas of image quality, equipment safety and applications.

The QC technologist will actively assist with Risk Management, Safety and Quality Improvement activities as required by the sites’ needs.

Key responsibilities of this position include: Performs and maintains the departmental quality control program.

Acts as an authorized radiation protection agency inspector.

Provides and supports quality control education.

Supports equipment vendor service and clinical engineering staff partnership.

Establishes and displays strong team communication and interaction.

Promotes and addresses safety practices and concerns.

Description: As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) III, you will be responsible for the operational supervision of a staff team and work processes of a radiology department or program/function.

You will act as the lead Clinical Preceptor for MRT students and primary liaison to the area Radiologist.

Your work can include establishing and maintaining adequate levels of supplies and materials for the department and administering quality control assurance programs.

Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
– Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications: As required.

Preferred Qualifications: Successful completion of ARPA certification and successful completion of AB Jobs, Skills, Training, and Labour Legislation examination.

DI Quality Control training and courses.

Radiation Protection Legislation courses.

In-house training courses for lead assessment.

Minimum three years’ experience in relevant radiation field with hands on QC experience.
