Communications Officer and Web Coordinator

This is a Contract position in Ottawa, ON posted January 6, 2021.

Salary (Grade: 09) Hiring salary range $63491$78,940

Position Purpose

Creates the change management and communication strategies for Information Technology initiatives such as new tools and software changes. Creates self-help documentation, newsletters, infographics, social media posts, web pages and other communication products for various platforms. Develops templates for communication, engagement and change management purposes to be used by IT staff. Works closely with IT managers to provide accurate and timely information to IT clients. Responsible for the design, authoring, preparation and distribution of IT publications and documentation.

Essential Qualifications

Postsecondary education or equivalent regarding marketing, public relations and communications
Project management and event planning experience
Experience in developing promotional material (e.g., pamphlets, guides, advertisements and promotional items)
Experience in using computer systems and software such as MS Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
Experience with a content management system: updating websites, creating new pages, performing site maintenance, addressing accessibility errors, using analytics
Experience in developing business and promotional material (for example, annual reports, news bulletins, service announcements, articles and infographics) and using communications metrics
Experience with social media implementation in organizations
Experience creating communications and change management plans
Technical writing experience (an asset)
Experience with graphics software such as Canva and Adobe Photoshop to create icons, graphics art, presentations, infographics and layout design
Experience working with various IT packages and systems
Organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Bilingualism – English/French (spoken and written, with writing experience)

Temporary assignment or contract of 12 months, with possibility of renewal. Eligibility to benefits and union affiliation will be determined upon hiring.
