We are on the hunt for the right kind of people to join us and help lead us forward to continued growth.About The JobWe’re looking for a talented Intermediate Front End Software Engineer in the Toronto, Kingston or Ottawa region to join our growing team.As a front-end-focused developer, you will play a central role in the development and delivery of Ratehub’s applications and services to our users.

The successful candidate will work closely with product managers, designers, QA and other developers to build experiences that exceed customers’ expectations and improve the way they learn about and choose financial products.Ratehub.Ca offers a friendly, innovative, collaborative, remote-friendly work environment, with offices in Downtown Toronto and Downtown Kingston.

Our talented team drives our success, and we support each individual in fulfilling their potential.As an Intermediate Front End Software Engineer, you will:Work closely with our talented designers and product owners to create, maintain and improve components in our design systemArchitect complex single page applications using concepts like Flux, MVVM, functional reactive programming and container/presenter patterns.Integrate frontend applications with our micro service platform while maintaining clear separation of concernsWrite automated tests to ensure correctness and protect against regressionsIntegrate applications with analytics and monitoring platforms like Heap and NewRelicOffer give advice on technical issues impacting partnerships and discuss issues with technical teams from partner companiesYour Qualifications2+ years of hands-on experience building complex web-based applicationsProficient with JavaScript, HTML and CSS best-practices; experience with ES6+, amodern JS application framework (React, Ember, Angular, etc.) and tool chains (Babel, Webpack, Docker) is a plus High degree of comfort with Git source code managementFamiliarity with Linux or other Unix-like environment; feeling at home in the terminalStrong curiosity and ability to learn quickly; strong desire to write modular, maintainable, and testable codeExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPost-secondary degree; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/CE/SE-related major preferred but not strictly requiredOur tech stack:Language/Framework: Javascript/React, styled-components/CSSState Management: React hooks, Mobx & mobx-state-tree for complex applicationsCI: GitHub ActionsObservability and Monitoring: New Relic, HeapBackend: Microservice and FaaS-based HTTP APIsCULTURE FITFun: You bring your whole self to work and make an effort to contribute to our workplace culture in a positive wayDo the right thing: You are able to assess both customer and company needs to make good business choicesGrowth mindset: You love to learn and try new thingsWilling to Help: You care about your team members and are willing to help out outside your realm of expertise.Impact orientated: You are motivated by results and track to completionJOB PERKSCompetitive salary: We know life’s expensiveFlexible hours: Enjoy a couple more hours of sleep in the morning, if you wantRRSP matching programTraining allowanceBenefits: Health is wealthCasual dress code: If it’s good enough for you, it’s good enough for usFun team socials Ratehub welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
