Senior Consultant, Forensic

KPMG Forensic helps uncover the facts and create clarity when people and organizations do not agree, or where financial and business behaviour does not comply with expectations.  Our professionals can offer support after an incident to help our clients investigate allegations of fraud and misconduct, quantify losses in a commercial dispute, provide expert witness services, and recover damages.  We also get involved before any incident has occurred – to help address exploitable weaknesses in corporate processes and systems.  Our national team includes investigative accountants, business valuators, analysts, forensic technology experts, former police officers and others with specialized skills. 

The opportunity:

KPMG Forensic continues to grow and is interested in hiring a Senior Consultant to join its Ottawa practice. This position would appeal to a CPA with approximately 2- 3 years of professional experience, who is interested in a career in the forensic and investigative accounting field. This highly specialized group will give you a unique opportunity to be exposed to a fast-paced specialization that will allow you to combine your accounting and/or audit knowledge with your forensic and investigative skills and leverage data analytic tools and techniques. The variety of assignments will provide you with the opportunity to gain exposure to a many interesting and challenging situations. As KPMG is committed to capability development and continuous learning, this role provides an exceptional opportunity for both formal and hands-on training.

You will assist in investigations, quantification of damages, fraud risk management,  litigation support, data analytics support, insurance claims quantification and similar assignments in both the public and private sector with a focus on learning the required skills and knowledge to progress in this dynamic and growing specialization.

  • Assist in Client/engagement acceptance.
  • Financial analysis.
  • Document review.
  • Assist with interviewing.
  • Leverage data analytics tools and techniques.
  • Report preparation.
  • File organization and administration.
  • Participate in marketing and business development activities.
  • Share in the administrative tasks related to the operation of KPMG Forensic.

 

What you bring to the role

  • Ability to obtain Government of Canada Security Clearance.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required (or successful completion of Common Final Exam (CFE).
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in an accounting and/or auditing role.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset and strongly preferred.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and analytical ability.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word). 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Highly driven, autonomous, resilient and team player with a strong work ethic
  • Being proactive in determining priorities and managing multiple deadlines
