One World Bazaar is looking for a Marketing & Ecommerce Lead to support the continued growth of our newly developed ecommerce branch and ever-evolving brand and marketing strategy.

Based out of our brick & mortar location in Manotick Station, Ontario in south Ottawa, this position offers the flexibility of work-from-home for 40% of the year.

About the BusinessAT ONE WORLD BAZAAR, WE BELIEVE IN HIGHLIGHTING THE BEAUTY OF HANDCRAFTED GOODS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE.Working directly with international artisans, we source unique home décor, clothing, furniture, art, linens and jewellery pieces that add colour and flair to every space and wardrobe.

Key to our organization is providing economic sustainability to our producers and their families.‘The Bazaar’ has been a fall destination for 40 years.Open for only seven weekends from September to November, we’ve converted an old barn into a unique international marketplace.

2020 was a big year, we changed our name, COVID pushed us to go online year-round, we began a leadership transition to the next generation, and we still have plans for considerable growth.

We’re looking to add to our great team to make it happen!

The RoleReporting to and collaborating with the Owner and General Manager, you’ll be the key lead to oversee the Shopify ecommerce platform from beginning to end; year-round.

This includes inventory management and optimization, customer relations, new product identification, photography elements and information systems organization and management.You’ll lead the development of the marketing strategy and execution of it.

You’ll create engaging campaigns, and content (written, design and photo/videography), collaborate with influencers, monitor and report on metrics, and constantly be looking for areas of improvement.You’ll make decisions on ad spend and direct that accordingly; mostly digital, with some print.You’ll teach colleagues as to how their work can feed into yours, particularly around ecommerce inventory control and product lifecycle; as well as supporting marketing efforts.As the brick & mortar operation has a very short season, you’ll be an extra set of hands to assist when needed during heavy workload periods.You’ll have the ability to hire, and oversee the work of others who will contribute to the greater objectives and strategy you set out.You’ll be proactive in properly planning for the intense seasonality of the job and tasks.You’ll be a strong leader on our tight-knit team.

You’ll always be looking to improve efficiencies and bring industry best practices to the Bazaar, both in your role and with helping other units.QualificationsCareer level: Mid-early careerDegree or Diploma in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related field.

Equivalent work experience of a minimum 3 years is considered as well.Proven track record of effective brand storytelling, including written, visual and graphics; social media platform management; and how to amplify content across multiple mediums.Experience growing social media and email followers/subscribers and building a passionate and engaged online community.

Excited to partner with other businesses and influencers to expand the community reach.Ability to produce and develop interactive graphics, incorporating photos and videos.

Some background in video and photo shooting and editingExperience in gathering and using data to guide editorial content and marketing strategy; ability to interpret data and share insights in a meaningful way to others.Excellent customer service skills; a clear and effective communicator, empathetic, and solution-focused.Exceptional time management skills.

You love both large project development and planning, as well as small detail execution of everyday tasks.Have worked in a highly cyclical environment with huge pressure on seasonal execution.Takes initiative, loves ownership, leads change, is solution-focused, and is always efficient.Not afraid of getting your hands dirty.Technical ExpertiseExperience with Shopify, its optimization and application to retail businesses with high-product diversity.Competent and proficient with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Mailchimp, Canva, SquareSpace, YouTube, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Dropbox, Google Analytics, Ads Manager, SEO optimization, Adobe Suite, editing software, and always up for figuring things out when needed.ResponsibilitiesEcommerce Management (40%)Be the key lead on ecommerce management, control and decision making.Optimize the site for ideal customer experience, directly leading to successful sales conversions.Regularly report on the stats that support this optimization and future growth opportunitiesOversee ecommerce inventory management and organization.

Understand inventory of brick and mortar store and earmark product that should be moved between the branches.

Be a key voice in product purchasing decisions.Foster buy-in with colleagues as how best their work can feed into ecommerce efforts.Oversee quality control of fulfilled orders, and customer service.Marketing Management (40%)Develop a marketing and content plan for the year, broken down by key milestones and deliverables by month, and weekly and daily.

Efficiently execute this plan.Build on our online community from the currently highly engaged and familiar, to new markets – through social media, email, marketing, blog, and possibly vlog.Build upon the newly refined brand by bringing your own aesthetic to print, in-store, online and in social media.Create content in line with optimizing traffic, followers, and ultimately action; this includes writing content, eblasts, running promotions, taking photography, creating graphics, videos (long and short form, such as reels), and reporting on the related metrics; always presenting the next steps to growth.

Develop a plan to build in support from other colleagues to help you with these deliverables and action plan, particularly in brainstorming and writing content.Administer a budget of ad spend for primarily electronic and limited print mediumsGeneral Operations Work & Retail Manager (20%)We’re a small team and a business that’s highly seasonal, due to this our leadership team wears many hats and needs to provide assistance during peak periods.Help manage operational efforts such as receiving and processing shipments, some set up and tear down work, and taking annual inventory.When we are open to the public, you’ll be on the ‘floor’ educating customers on product, overseeing a product area of the Bazaar, and supervising a group of staff.Hire and supervise staff to assist with your primary team, as well as for the seasonal brick & mortar sale seasonOther duties as required.BenefitsWork from home for ~40% of the year.

Expect to work 3.5-5 days a week from April –July.

Five days a week July – early September, 5-6 days a week mid-September-November, 3.5-5 days a week November – December and 2-4 days a week from December-April.

Our brick and mortar location is open for only seven weekends in the fall, during that period the regular work week will shift to ~Tues/Wed-Sunday.CompensationBase salary will be dependent on experience.

Bonus pay based on achieving key position metrics will be offered.
