Video Editor-Content Producer

Join the world’s largest humanitarian network. The Canadian Red Cross Society, a not for profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping the most vulnerable in Canada and throughout the world, is currently seeking a Video Editor-Content Producer.

Reporting to the AV Unit Manager, Communications, Operations, the Video Editor-Content Producer, Communications Operations- AV Unit will be responsible for creating digital content and supporting the production and delivery of audio-visual services in support of Canadian Red Cross strategic and operational goals for domestic and international operations. This position will play a key role in the conceptualization, production, and implementation of digital visual content produced by the AV Unit.

About the Canadian Red Cross (CRC):


You will be working on things like:

Visual Content Creation       

  • Participates in all aspects of production of videos and digital visual content for a variety of platforms including social media, web delivery, and television news outlets.

  • Produces original short-form and longer narrative video projects, corporate and educational content, with a focus on short-form consumable digital content.

  • Participates in the conceptualization of projects, storyboarding, location scouting, identifying subjects and script writing.

  • Executes shoots both in the field and in studio/controlled settings, which includes but is not limited to conducting interviews and managing talent, camera operation, lighting setup, and on-the-ground logistics.

  • Can lead as required on shoots, livestreams and other productions, ensuring adherence to established timelines and budgets.


  • Plays a vital role throughout the post-production workflow, including but not limited to media wrangling, video editing, sound mixing, and color grading.

  • Participates in the cataloguing of media and metadata management.

Production Support

  • Supports the Manager AV Unit in establishing timelines for the pre-production, production and post-production phases of productions.

  • Supports the AV Unit with all aspects of production, including but not limited to preparing equipment for shoots, equipment maintenance and repair, data management and storage, live event support, and provision of AV training to staff and volunteers.

  • Supports the Producer-AV Unit in dealing with external subcontractors, vendors and suppliers, including but not limited to travel agencies, craft service providers, equipment rental agencies, venue and location coordinators.

  • General administrative work in support of procurement, hiring of external vendors and sub-contractors, redaction of TORs and RFPs, travel logistics, project reporting, and financial accounting.

Disaster Communications    

  • Supports the AV Unit during international or domestic disasters or fundraising appeals to ensure AV needs are met.

  • Deploy to domestic and international disaster responses and create visual content.

  • Supports Manager AV unit in providing strategic communications guidance and support to the Operations team with audio-visual requirements, as required.

  • Provides ongoing audio-visual support for response milestones and anniversaries.


We are looking for somebody with:

  • Minimum post-secondary education in a related field, with 2 to 5 years’ experience in content production.

  • Project management experience.

  • Proven professional videography and photography experience

  • Experience producing informational and dynamic visual content.

  • Professional experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Resolve, Premiere Pro and Adobe Creative Suite software.

  • Experience in all aspects of video post-production

  • Experience in research, journalism, marketing and/or publishing is an asset.

  • Video production experience in hardship contexts and low-resource settings an asset.


You will stand out if you have:

  • Bilingualism (English/French) an asset.

  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Red Cross, the Red Cross Movement and its mandate.

Working conditions

  • The majority of work is performed in a clean and comfortable environment

  • May include long to moderate hours sitting and using computers and office equipment

  • Ability to work non-traditional hours on short notice

  • Ability to complete and maintain a thorough medical screening and receive medical clearance prior to departure in the field

  • Completion of mandatory online courses and in-person training as required upon selection and onboarding

  • Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector criminal record and professional reference checks.

  • Ability to work non-traditional and longer hours often on short notice especially during times of emergency response.

  • Domestic and international travel is required.
