Junior Property Manager- Ottawa, ON

Killam Apartment REIT (TSX:KMP.UN), is a growth-oriented real estate investment trust which owns, manages and develops multi-family residential properties in Atlantic Canada, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. Killam is focused on maximizing its value and long-term profitability through increasing earnings, expanding the portfolio through acquisitions and developing high-quality properties in its core markets.

At this time, we are looking for a dedicated, high-performing Junior Property Manager to join our team who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of multi-residential properties in the Ottawa region.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of the operation of a portfolio of multi-residential properties;
• Oversee staff to ensure properties are well maintained and ensure all maintenance issues are addressed in a timely and cost-effective manner;
• Work with staff to ensure vacant apartments are leased, according to leasing procedures;
• Arrange to schedule hearings for all appropriate matters with Landlord Tenant Board and ensure adequate representation;
• Assist in the development of budgets and completing financial reporting;
• Provide support to and supervise staff associated with the portfolio including conducting annual performance reviews. 

Qualifications:

• Minimum two years of experience in the Property Management industry, multi-residential experience preferred;
• Completion of university degree or college diploma in a related field or equivalent experience is considered an asset;
• Ability to thrive in a changing environment and contribute to a rapidly growing organization;
• Excellent attention to detail;
• Experience with budgeting and financial reporting;
• Effective, proven leadership skills with previous supervisory experience;
• Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently;
• Good computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel;
• Working knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act and experience with Landlord and Tenant Board processes;
• Experience with Yardi property management software is considered an asset.
