For more information, visit www.Telesat.Com.PURPOSE OF JOBBring engineering expertise related to the design and deployment of satellite user terminals (UTs) to be used on Telesat LEO Constellation network for fixed and mobile applications; Design recommendations and analysis of terminal antenna options as technical inputs to the deployment of UTs for Telesat LEO Constellation; Manage technical relationships with multiple hardware suppliers and fundamental antenna technology design entities; Planning, support and execution antenna validation tests; Support LEO Systems Engineering in analysis and modelling of antenna operational performance in the Telesat LEO Constellation; MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop technical requirements for Telesat LEO Constellation user terminal antenna technology; Support technical analyses for Telesat LEO Constellation systemSupport the definition and evaluation of UT antenna requirements; Help define theprocess for UT type approvals; Interface with potential manufacturers of UTs; Evaluate vendorproposed terminal designs for performance, reliability and manufacturability; Propose modifications and/or new UT designs to achieve required cost, performance and reliability targets; Identify tests to validate system assumptions with UT prototypes using specialized test equipment; Lead ad-hoc engineering team(s) to evaluate antenna technologies and products; Perform other duties as required.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREDB.Eng.

(Electrical or Physics); Minimum of 5 years’ experience in satellite terminal and/or satellite system design.Specialized Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of antenna technologies, including tracking reflector systems, flat panel antennas and other antenna technology at Ka band for mobile land, aeronautical, maritime and fixed applications; Knowledge of satellite modems and hub technology performance; Knowledge of satellite RF equipment including satellite carrier setup and commissioning; Understanding of physical layer communication protocols for satellite communications; General familiarity with regulatory requirements related to antenna transmissions; Excellent understanding of array antenna technologies in terms functional architecture and performance characteristicsSolid foundation in electromagnetism as related to antenna theoryExperience with selection of RFIC and beam forming technologies required for this type of array antennasExperience in manufacturing techniques and processes required for array antennasGood understanding of antenna control techniques for beam steering and beam shape controlExperience with integration of antennas with other part of the user terminals like the modemAbility to summarize complex problems, solutions and recommendations; Excellent ability to make design trades between performance, cost, power consumption, etc.Fluent in English, written and oral.Travel, support of projects across multiple time zones and other project requirements may require overtime; Occasional international travel may be required; therefore, candidates will need to provide proof that they have no national/international travel or visa restrictions; DECISION MAKING & SUPERVISION:Decision MakingDevelops and recommends solutions for UT RF and antenna modulesDevelops and recommends technical specifications for UT and System segmentsMake decisions about task priorities as required in the course of leading project teams.Supervision ExercisedThere is no direct reporting staff but this role is expected to lead multidisciplinary project teams and/or provide technical assistance or guidance toother engineers or specialists; Supervision of suppliers/contractor during supplier facing activities.The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
